Can Manchester United salvage something out of nothing this season after a very poor outing in the English Premsiehip League

Though visibily shaken and out of sorts by their teeeming and noisey fans all over the world Man United will be looking for a way to riggle out of a bad situation this season , to salvage a trophy. Manchester United travels to the Lyon in France , where they will be hosted by Olympic Lyons in a crucial as well as decisive Europa Cup Quarter finals first leg at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon this night .
Both have met on four occassions in a champions league encounter in 2008 which Man United won but this time it’s in the Europa League Cup

At the domestic front in the English Premsiehip League , they lost to Nothingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground before playing a goalless draw with City rivals Man City at Old Trafford
The good news is that their performance at the Continental still remains outstanding as they eye the Europa Cup semi final berth if they over come Lyon in the two legged quarter finals match.
They still remain unbeaten in the Continental Cup this season with 6 wins and 4 draws after a 5-2 pummelling of Real Sociedad after a 1-1 draw in Spain and the cracker in England that saw Bruno Fernandez netting a hattrick in a 4-1 humbling of the Spanish toddlers on a fairly tedious evening at Old Trafford in the round of 16.

With the arrival of Paulo Foncescs , the Portuguese sweat merchant for Lyon , who though is on a 9 month ban in the domestic Lique 1 , but it does not affect today’s Europa League proceedings , have galvanized the Lyon team to a team to beat in the continent with their eight wins out of 10 in all competitions makes them a hard nut to crack tonight in France for the English men .

The Red Devils have only lost one Europa League match in 2023 against Sevilla 3-0 which was the only match they did not score , but have not lost 11 of their first leg Europa Cup match since they lost 1-0 to Barcelona in 2019 that was in champions league.

With a seven game winless run in all competitions , between mid January and February ,Lyon seven of their last 10 matches including six of them where eehey scored 19 goals
After their disastrous 4-2 loss to Strassburg , they revived themselves with another emphatic win at home last Saturday with a 2-1 win against Lille with goals from both halfd from former Arsenal striker , Alexander Lacazette and Ryan Cherki when they came from behind to clinch 3 points .
Lyon sitting fifth in Lique 1 ,two points behind the top three and an automatic champions league qualification chance with only six games to wrap it up in Lique , their future looks s bit brighter than the Red Devils who are permanently stock in the 13th position with no hope in sight with just six or games remaining in the English Premsiehip League .

Lyon finished 6th in the 36th team league , three places below Man United after pummelling FSCB of Rumania 7-1 on aggreegate in the round of 16 will be looking forward for another lift in the Continental trophy this time after a near miss in the champions league in 2019.

Thigh they have not beaten Man United in any European Cup in four previous competitions , drew 2-2 in 2004 as well as in February 2008 1-1 respectively .

Predictions .

The two teams scoring spree favours Lyon at the moment who have also had a good run of form in the domestic league with at least three goals in their last four games , but Man United s lot has been that of misery , inactivity and a lack of bite attack presently .

We may not expect many goals as the two sides will be conscious not to concede , but Lyons rear flat footed men is somthing that their Portuguese Coach Paulo Fonseca will need to deactivate to survive any likely harsh opposition from the Red Devils who will like to claim a share of the spoil in tonight s encounter in a near chilly weather conditions in Lyons as the summer is about to set in Europe .
