Finally , a new look Manchester City opens its campaign in this year’s Club World Cup in Group G with a new team format of 32 and also can be seen as the defending champions , having won the old format Cup in 2022/2023 , before FIFA increased the participating teams to 32 .
They face Wydad FC of Morocco in Philadelphia .
Also in this Group G with City is Serie A titans , Juventus of Turin , Italy as well as another Arab team Al -Ain from United Arab Emirates
Anything apart from the top two finish from this group for Manchester will be degrading and an insult to the football world considering their pedigree in the round leather game
For those of us who may not know much about the new format of the Fifia Club World Cup , there are 32 teams which have been divided into 8 groups of four teams each and each group will produce two top finishers .
From first round matches to round of 16 knockout stage , then the quarter finals , semi finals and finals , all will packages in a one month football fiesta in USA , the hosting country .
